JA CCC principal update

July 30, 2024

Dear JA Coal Creek Canyon Families,

I hope this letter finds you all enjoying the beautiful summer days and looking forward to the exciting developments of the new school year. At JA Coal Creek Canyon, we are eagerly preparing for your return and have many wonderful and important updates to share:

Super Monday Class Selection:

We are excited to announce that Super Monday sign up is now available for ALL families in grades 2nd-8th and ALL homeschool families. It is important that you select your Super Monday class choices by THIS SUNDAY August 4th (11:30pm). This will provide us with the necessary information to ensure a smooth start to the school year. Please note: Kindergarten and 1st grades will stay with their classes the entire day, so no selections are necessary for those grade levels. To submit your choices, please visit the following webpage: https://www.thesummitacademy.org/jacoalcreeksupermondayclasschoices. We appreciate your prompt response and look forward to offering an engaging and enriching Super Monday program for your children. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

EagleCare (Before & After School Care) Registration:

If your family is in need of Before and After School Care for the upcoming school year, please complete this EagleCare Intent to Enroll form by THIS SUNDAY, August 4th (11:30pm). Following the submission of this form, you will be notified of your acceptance by Wednesday, August 7th, and then will be asked to complete the next step of registration. Please keep in mind that this intent to enroll form replaces any past intent to enroll forms you may have submitted, ensuring that we have the most accurate numbers for our program. To be eligible for EagleCare, students must be at least five (5) years of age by October 1, 2024, and remain under thirteen (13) years of age until May 21, 2025. We also want to note that if our license is still pending when school starts, this program will operate as an "extended school day program". If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Community Hands-On Deck:

We’re inviting you to join us in setting up new furniture, moving out the old/moving in the new furniture and installing Promethean boards for our school and classrooms. We’ll gather on July 31st (12pm - 8pm) and August 3rd (9am - 3pm). Drop by for as long as you can; every bit of help is appreciated! Please bring any tools you have that you might need to put together and move furniture, install Promethean Boards, and for general fix up tasks. While there's no need to RSVP for a specific time, a quick note to let us know you're coming would be fantastic, so we can plan accordingly.

Ready, Set, School Supplies:

School supply lists, and recently updated school supply lists for 1st & 2nd grade, are now available on our website. Should you require assistance with supplies, please be aware of the support offered by Whispering Pines Church’s supply drive on August 4th. You do NOT have to sign up to receive free supplies. Here is the schedule of events open to the public:

10:30 a.m. Worship Service (with Children's Sunday School available)

11:45 a.m. BBQ Lunch (Immediately after the service)

Free School Supplies - Pickup after the service (you are not required to attend a service to receive supplies)

August 7th Staff Lunch:

On August 7th, the staff from JA Coal Creek Canyon (JACCC) and Jefferson Academy Elementary (JAE) will be convening for a day of professional development at the JA CCC campus. To make this day even more special, the JAE & JACCC PTO's will be sponsoring a staff lunch. If you would like to contribute to this lunch for the dedicated teachers and staff, please consider donating sides and/or tableware for the event. Your support will help make this day memorable and show our teachers how much we appreciate them. Please visit the signup genius link here to sign up. Thank you for your generosity and continued support.

Meet, Greet, and Connect:

Don’t forget to save the date! August 12th at 6pm is our  Meet & Greet Night. It's a great chance to get to know each other and learn more about what the new school year holds. There will be a quick principal welcome and then families will be released to visit classrooms. Teachers will hold two identical 30 minute sessions (6:15-6:45 pm and 6:50-7:20 pm) to account for families who have more than one student. If you have more than two children attending JA/CCC please reach out and we will make sure you get the information you need.

Back to School Picnic/BBQ:

The new JA CCC PTO members are in discussion about a Back to School Picnic/BBQ one or two weeks after school starts. More information will be sent out once those plans have been finalized.

Food Services Updates:

We are thrilled to announce that we will be providing FREE breakfast and lunch to all students for the upcoming school year thanks to Jeffco Food Services. There's no qualifications required to enjoy these meals. We do, however, encourage you to take a moment to set up an account (if you haven’t already) and complete the new Student Benefits Application (Free & Reduced Lunch application). This can help with other school-related fees and will ensure that your child is properly funded through the school lunch program. This is also a place you can put money in your child's account and place restrictions for purchase for a la carte items. Find the link to School Cafe here.

PreK Progress:

Our PreK program is on its way with preliminary licensing and inspections completed. We’re just waiting for the final inspection and hope to announce our launch date soon. Your patience has been invaluable. If you plan to continue enrollment at JA CCC Pre-K, keeping in mind the recent updates about UPK and tuition, please touch base with us so that we can track enrollment numbers. If you have decided not to continue for this school year, please let us know also, and we can assist with the steps needed to unenroll.

Lace Up for the Jag Jog:

Mark your calendar for the Jag Jog on August 24th at 9am, an energetic K-12 event for all JA & Summit families hosted by The Foundation for JA. This community event features a timed 5K, 1-Mile Family Dash, and a Community Expo. This year we have added food trucks (items available for purchase) and other fun family options. It will take place on the elementary campus track (9955 Yarrow St, Broomfield, CO, 80021), with the race portions on the Dry Creek Trail. This is a great way to connect with the entire JA community! Register here

If you have a business that would like to have a booth in the Community Expo (vendor fair), sign up here.

Website Update:

While www.jajags.com/jacoalcreekcanyon remains your go-to source for current information, we're busy behind the scenes developing a brand-new website and app to enhance your experience. We can't wait to unveil them! Stay tuned!

Together, we’re poised for another fantastic year of growth and achievement. Please reach out with any questions, thoughts, or if you plan to assist us with the furniture setup. Your involvement is what makes our school community exceptional.

Warm regards,

Carrie Mott, Principal
