JACCC principal update

August 16, 2024

Dear JA Coal Creek Canyon Families,

We have the first few days under our belts. The excitement of the students can be felt in every classroom. Our teachers are taking the first few days to get to know each individual student and help them build connections with each other. The learning is already happening and we are excited to watch our students grow both academically, and in character this year.

There is a lot of information below to recap the first week so please read all the way to the bottom.

Super Monday Class Selection & Updates:

Thank you to many families for checking in to make sure your children are registered. We will finish placing students in classes so they are ready to go for our first Super Monday, which will happen this Monday, August 19th. School hours are the same as the rest of the week (8:30-3:30). The first couple of Mondays we will gather students in the gym to ensure they know the structure of the day and get to where they are going without worry. As students arrive someone will be at the door to guide them to the right place. Homeschool students are welcome to join us for free breakfast and are eligible for free lunch on Mondays (see note below).

We look forward to offering an engaging and enriching Super Monday program for your children. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Field Trip and Technology Forms:

Paper copies of a field trip and technology forms(this is a JACCC specific form) were handed out at meet and greet for families to sign. If you have not signed and returned them please do so as soon as possible. If you need additional copies please stop by the office and pick them up.  Cromebooks will be assigned to students next week. Students will not be assigned their chromebook until technology form is signed and turned in.

Attendance Process and New Phone Number:

If your child is going to be absent, please call (720)719-3003 and press “1”. Leave your name, your child's name, teacher, and the reason for their absence on the message. It is also helpful to let your child’s teacher know they will be absent via email if you can. If you would like to request student work while your child is absent please mention it in your message.

We are transitioning to our new phone number (720)719-3003. Please save this new number and use it when you need to get in contact with someone at the school. The website will be fully updated with this new phone number shortly.

Band

We are excited to potentially be able to offer Band to our 4th-8th grade students. Parents of 4th-8th grade please click on this link for more information.

Drop-Off and Free Breakfast:

Students not wanting to enjoy free breakfast can be dropped off as early as 8:15 am and go straight to the playground. Please make sure students are not released from your car until this time. For safety reasons we never want students to be left unattended on the playground.

If your child wants free breakfast they are welcome to enter the building at 8:10am and go directly to the cafeteria.

Breakfast service will be offered daily from 8:10am-8:25am. Students will be asked to finish their breakfast by 8:28am and will be directed to their homeroom. To avoid having little critters in classrooms students will not be allowed to finish breakfast in their classroom. Homeschoolers are also eligible for free breakfast AND lunch on Mondays, like all students.

Student Pick Up:

The pick up lane is now open. We no longer have a bus that will be sitting in the pick up lane so you are welcome to pull up to the curb to pick up your child(ren). You are also welcome to park and meet them at the door. We ask that you not use the parking lot as a pick up lane in the interest of keeping our students as safe as possible and to keep traffic flowing.  Thank you so much.

Lace Up for the Jag Jog (repeated):

Mark your calendar for the Jag Jog on August 24th at 9am, an energetic PK-12 event for all JA & Summit families hosted by The Foundation for JA. This community event features a timed 5K, 1-Mile Family Dash, and a Community Expo. This year we have added food trucks (items available for purchase) and other fun family options. It will take place on the elementary campus track (9955 Yarrow St, Broomfield, CO, 80021), with the race portions on the Dry Creek Trail. This is a great way to connect with the entire JA community! If you have a business that would like to have a booth in the Community Expo (vendor fair), sign up here.

Website Update:

This website is your go-to source for current information, we're busy behind the scenes adding information to enhance the website experience. Please forgive any incomplete information shown, as we are still a work in progress.

Community Hands-On Deck:

Thank you to everyone from the community that showed up to help build/move furniture and do touch ups around the building. We definitely wouldn’t have been ready for the first day without your help!

Band-Aid Request:

We are in need of boxes of bandaids in the clinic and some classrooms. If anyone is interested in donating band aids can be dropped off in the office. Regular to large size with no characters would be appreciated.

Upcoming dates to remember:
